Dictation engines

Click the mic on the command bar and your words become the command text. Which engine listens is up to you (Settings → Voice):

  1. Browser — the WebView’s built-in speech recognition. Zero setup, decent accuracy, needs no key.
  2. Parakeet (offline) — NVIDIA’s Parakeet model running locally. Free, private, works with no internet. Details.
  3. OpenAI — recorded audio transcribed via your OpenAI key. Strong accuracy, network + key required.
  4. Realtime — a live conversational session (OpenAI realtime or Grok) that hears you continuously instead of per-clip. Details.
  • Dictated text lands in the command bar exactly like typing — every voice command works either way.
  • Spoken replies (TTS) are configured separately — OS voices, OpenAI, or Grok — in voice settings.
  • Keys never leave your machine; they live in the local .env / settings store.
